How RCJ Advice Citizens Advice and Law Centre collect your data
We collect personal information about you to enable you to access our FLOWS services, which includes our FLOWS line and FLOWS legal advice appointments.
We collect personal information about you to enable you to use our Courtnav interactive module.
What information RCJ Advice Citizens Advice and Law Centre ask for
We only ask for the information we need. We always let you decide what you're comfortable telling us, explain why we need it and treat it as confidential.
When we record and use your personal information we:
- only access it when we have a good reason
- only share what is necessary and relevant
- don't sell it to anyone
We handle and store your personal information in line with data protection law.
Depending on what you want help with, this might include:
- Your name and contact details – so we can keep in touch with you about your CourtNav entry.
- Details of your children and other family members.
- Personal information – about family, or financial circumstances
How RCJ Advice Citizens Advice and Law Centre use your information
The data you provide to us when accessing our services which may include details you share through our online referral form, by emailing us, during calls to our FLOWS line, on CourtNav, CourtNav LiveChat or in the course of an advice appointment is seen by our RCJ Advice staff.
RCJ Advice staff can view all data. All RCJ staff are bound by confidentiality.
Our FLOWS line is supported by student volunteers who may answer your call. All volunteers are supervised by staff from their Universities and are bound by confidentiality.
The data you enter onto CourtNav is seen by the solicitor or legal adviser checking your case. They keep this information confidential and all our solicitors comply with data protection law.

CourtNav is hosted by Studio Republic who are within the European Economic Area.
How RCJ Advice & Citizens Advice Islington share your information
With your permission, we only share your information with other organisations so we can:
- help check your CourtNav content. Solicitors from other law firms who volunteer on our rotas may also check individual CourtNav cases.
Organisations we share your data with must store and use your data in line with data protection law.
The specific organisations we might share your information with are:
The Family Law firm selected by you.
The North East Law Centre supports individuals with CourtNav applications if you are unable to obtain legal aid, cannot pay privately for advice, or choose to receive support and advice from the CourtNav team.
The North East Law Centre can also provide FLOWS legal advice appointments.
Any Law clinic that you have given permission for us to share your information with.
Any other organisation or law firm that you’ve agreed we can share your information with.
When your CourtNav application is complete, you can submit it to the Court through your MyHMCTS account. If you do so, your data will be protected by HMCTS systems.
